Three days before Hollywood’s biggest night (the Academy Awards), two days after fashion’s biggest week (Paris Fashion Week), and one day before an uncharacteristic torrential Los Angeles downpour (which subsequently caused the event to be rescheduled for a day earlier), Versace showed off their fall collection in a splashy show on the West Coast. Makes sense, given Versace’s focus on red-carpet dressing and that most of their celebrity clients would be there anyways.
“The energy, glamour, and power of Hollywood” was the inspiration behind the collection. Of course.
And the celebs showed up and delivered: Cher kissing her boyfriend, Alexander Edwards; Dua Lipa hugging her friend Elton John; Paris Hilton with her sister, Nicky, and mom, Kathy; and Christine Quinn, who reacted appropriately to seeing Anne Hathaway IRL. (Lil Nas X later got in on the Hathaway lovefest — posing with her.)
The collection itself was based on Versace’s spring 1995 show and featured pantsuits with hourglass shapes, roomy babydoll dresses and tops, and blazers with rounded shoulders — in bouclés, cracked leathers, and furs. The brand even reintroduced an archival Versace hobo bag called the Repeat — get it? Lots of looks were paired with big, hater-blocking sunglasses. The early aughts revival is alive and well.
Here are all the celebs.
