The NFL’s most famous couple have had quite the busy weekend. Over the last few days, Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce jetted from the Kansas City Chiefs’ home opener to dinner at Lucali in Brooklyn to the Greenwich Village wedding of model Karen Elson and Lee Foster, all while Taylor seemed to be testing out some, well, tweaks to her personal style. Rounding out their whirlwind of public appearances, the lovebirds packed on the PDA at Arthur Ashe Stadium Sunday while watching the Men’s Singles Final on Sunday between Italy’s Jannik Sinner and Taylor Fritz (an American player, but more importantly, boyfriend of highly meme-d tennis WAG Morgan Riddle.) The couple kissed, embraced, and fist-pumped from a suite where Kelce could be seen wearing a Gucci bucket hat and matching shirt. Swift looked like a summer picnic in Central Park in an all-gingham getup.
Oddly enough, Swift was also photographed hugging and hanging with Brittany Mahomes, wife of fellow Chiefs player Patrick Mahomes, throughout the day. Brittany was rumored to be on the outs with the Squad after she was caught liking some of Donald Trump’s posts on Instagram and calling her critics “haters.” For her part, Swift prefers to keep her political image squeaky clean, if not bland, so it’s a bit of a surprise that she’d be willing to be photographed with Mahomes less than a week after the posts made the rounds online — not to mention, so close to the upcoming November election. All’s fair in famous friendships and tennis matches, I guess?
While Mahomes wasn’t glued to Swift’s side as usual during the Chiefs’ season opener, we’ll see if the Chiefs’ First Ladies are using this US Open sighting as a way to test the waters of their public friendship. If anything, I’d bet we’re going to see them looking chummy as ever in matching red bomber jackets in the coming weeks in the Kelce suite.
