Sarah Jessica Parker’s line of feminine, colorful pumps will soon be no more. Last week, her namesake brand, SJP by Sarah Jessica Parker, quietly announced in the fashion trades that it was winding down after a decade in business. The Sex and the City actress tapped her character Carrie Bradshaw’s shoe-crazy reputation when she launched the line with George Malkemus, then the head of Manolo Blahnik in the U.S., back in 2014. Malkemus died of cancer in 2021.
The SJP shoes — which included shiny pumps with sparkling buckles, low-heeled patent-leather mary janes, and bride-friendly heels with the words hello and lover stamped over the toes — were frequently visible on And Just Like That … But onscreen, they were disguised as a vintage brand dubbed “Duchessa Gardini” to avoid a situation where Parker and Bradshaw both exist in the same timeline. (Or so Parker explained to Vogue in 2022.)
If you still want your SJP footwear fix, all of the label’s shoes are currently 25 percent off, final sale. (That means they are still over $400.) The store on Bleecker Street in Manhattan will close on August 25, according to Footwear News.
