Hi Lena, we’ve added the address to the post, thanks for asking! Restoran Vikend is on route 8 heading southeast out of Rogoznica. 22203, Podorljak, Croatia

Shikha, I’m okay with the spit, but any further back on the “preparation” would probably do the same to me. It really was delicious!

Though it’s all just in my head because if I just closed my eyes and ate it, I’m sure I would find it just delicious!

Janice, Yes, the pig was huge, but while we were there I think he sold all of it. It’s a pretty popular lunch.

We had suckling pig recently in Bali, but the pigs weren’t as big as the ones in your photos! Perhaps Croatia has bigger pigs :-).

Michele, And I would run right toward the tree! I just love all the ways locals cook and make their delicious food!

Justine, Exactly! The food was delicious, but what we loved the most was Antonio and his lovely family!

But despite my non-meat-eating ways, this sounds like an amazing first meal in Croatia. What a great introduction to not only the food, but the people too. There’s nothing better than being welcomed into a country by a local family, even if it’s only for a meal. Great story :)

But I’ll be sure to leave my vegetarian daughter behind though. Antonio reminds me of the men of Guatemala who also take great pride in their meat cooking prowess. Whenever I see a hook hanging from the ceiling or a tree, I run the other way.
