Does Trump Really Think Taylor Swift Endorsed Him?

With less than 80 days until the election, Taylor Swift has yet to throw her support behind a presidential ticket. While a member of Kamala Harris’s campaign team sits patiently by the Tree Paine–dedicated phone, Donald Trump has taken matters into his own hands. On Sunday, he posted a series of AI-generated images on Truth Social, including a fake illustration of the singer dressed as Uncle Sam telling Americans to vote for him. His caption: “I accept!”

Trump also posted several photos of teens wearing “Swifties for Trump” T-shirts and a screenshot of a satirical article claiming Swift fans are turning to Trump in response to the alleged terror plot that caused Swift’s Vienna shows to be called off. It’s not clear if the photos themselves are real, but the coalition does exista verified Swifties for Trump X account had upward of 3,000 followers as of Monday morning, and a handful of TikTok videos show her fans saying they plan to vote for Trump. Responding to an inquiry about Trump’s posts, his campaign spokesman Stephen Cheung told Deadline, “Swifties for Trump is a massive movement that grows bigger every single day.”

As far as we can tell, Swift really doesn’t like Trump — at least she didn’t in 2020 when she endorsed Biden and accused the then-current president of “ineffective leadership” and “stoking the fires of white supremacy and racism your entire presidency.” I would like to think she’ll eventually put on a Swifties for Kamala friendship bracelet, but we may be waiting a while — she didn’t endorse Biden until October 2020. That gives Trump a lot of time to maintain his illusion while Melania and Barron blast “Blank Space” in the Rolls-Royce.
