It turns out being the kid of a supermodel-actress comes with a few decent perks — like, say, getting to shop your famous mom’s closet of vintage ’90s gowns for your high-school graduation. In an interview with People Wednesday, Brooke Shields confessed that the white dress her daughter wore to her graduation ceremony earlier this year was the same one the actress wore during her 1997 nuptials to tennis star Andre Agassi. Much like the rest of the 2024 nepo-baby class heading off to college this year, 18-year-old Grier Henchy succeeded in turning heads in her mother’s vintage wedding dress, with just a few edits to make the ensemble feel more modern.

“We had to re-bone it a little bit so it was tight and sleek,” Henchy, who will be joining her older sister Rowan at Wake Forest University this year, said of the dress. “We took out all the poof because I didn’t want it poofy.”

“It’s such an honor when they want to wear your stuff. Normally they don’t think I’m cool,” Shields added. “Honestly, they can wear anything because just to have it have another life … you save the stuff and wonder why. It’s like, some big Sotheby’s auction? I highly doubt it. Unless they’re iconic items. So when they have another life, it feels good.”

Shields, of course, divorced Agassi in 1999 and later remarried Chris Henchy, the father of both of her daughters. But Agassi, she says, is “a good guy,” so she was happy to let Grier give the garment another spin. It doesn’t hurt that she made an ecoconscious styling choice, too. See? The kids really are all right.
